The final problem average and the discussion activities will each contribute ten percent towards the final grade, and the laboratory average will contribute ten percent towards the final grade. Students taking the course Pass/Fail must be in the top 2/3 (66%) of the class to achieve a grade of Pass.  IMPORTANT: A MISSED EXAMINATION WILL RESULT IN A GRADE OF ZERO FOR THAT EXAMINATION, unless extraordinary circumstances exist.

** Any student who receives a failing grade on all three major tests will not receive a passing grade.  **

LABORATORY: To obtain a passing grade in the course, the student must attend each laboratory session, complete the experiment and turn in a laboratory report; or obtain an exception from the instructor.  Exceptions will be given only for unusual and clearly valid reasons.

ATTENDANCE: Student attendance is expected and will be taken into account when assigning a final course grade.  Students are also expected to be on time for class.
