Physics Department Meeting

Staff Members Present: Mark Larchez (Chair), Bob Foley, Paul Henkiel, Laura McCullough, Jim Pejsa, John Rompala, and Alan Scott

Guests Present: F. Schultz

 

M. Larchez called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.

 

1.      Invited Guest: Forrest Schultz updated the department on developments of the Applied Science Program. He commented on the development of a science education concentration in Applied Science and that the material science concentration will start this fall.

 

2.      Announcements:

a)      May 10 is Nano Technology Day at Stout.

b)      The selection of a person for a three-year term (beginning this fall) to faculty senate was put off till the next department meeting.

c)      L. McCullough will give at talk about Celiac on April 20 at 12:20 p.m. in Jarvis Hall room SW117.

 

3.      Previous Minutes: Minutes from the April 2, 2004 department meeting were approved.

 

4.      Faculty Senate: Faculty senate report from J. Pejsa was put off till the next department meeting.

 

5.      Lab Equipment Difficulties: No major problems.

 

6.      Budget: 

a)      Supplies & Services: The remaining funds will be spent on the items approved from the previous department meeting.

b)      Travel Money: The department approved funding for L. McCullough presentation at the AAPT meeting in Sacramento California.
