Present: Ellen Carlson, Laura McCullough, Paul Henkiel, Alan Scott, Jim Pesja, Johan Rompala, Jo Hopp (recording secretary)

2. Minutes for previous meetings:

3. Physics minor possibility: L. McCullough informed the department about a student requesting a physics minor.  The department discussed how the minor could be achieved and L. McCullough will inform the student.

4. Lab manuals : L. McCullough inquired about who needs lab manuals for the 08-09 academic year.  Requests were made.  L. McCullough will contact Marlann Patterson for her needs.  Jim Pejsa volunteered to make necessary edits of current year manuals.

5. Faculty Senate: Amendments and Center for Interdisciplinary Collaboration (CIC) : Ballots are available and it was suggested to turn in votes.  Comments for the CIC should be given to J. Rompala or Jerry Kapus (Faculty Senate Chair).  J. Rompala reported on the Faculty Senate meeting.  There was a discussion of travel and procurement card restrictions.  The Chancellor said he would be investigating.  J. Rompala will send summary of meeting to department. 

6. APSC Committee report : J. Hopp reported on items discussed at APSC meeting, in particular the seminar time and working towards faculty meeting with invited speakers.  J. Rompala suggested using taped seminars from Madison if there are no speakers one week.

7. CAS Council report : L. McCullough discussed meeting.  J. Hopp did a presentation for the American with Disabilities Act/504 Committee at meeting that was well received.  J. Rompala suggested ADA information be up front on web page.  Ray Hayes is recovering.

8. Budget: 2007-08 and 2008-09 : Ordering will happen and we will see where we are at.  Work/Study funds should take us past finals hopefully

Other: L. McCullough has made a request for an addition FTE in physics.  If approved most of scheduling will be unaffected but some changes will need to be made.  She further discussed our present needs for fall including courses that have wait lists.

            The beginnings of the second physics position search have been started.

            L. McCullough is checking into why one section of 241 is empty in case it is a result of a registration error.

            L. McCullough will send everyone contact information in order to request supplementary materials for Knight (if interested in those materials).
