UW-Stout Physics Department meeting minutes

Members present: Mark Larchez (chair), Paul Henkiel, Jo Hopp, Laura McCullough, Jim Pejsa, John Rompala, Alan Scott, Ellen Carlson

Guest: Dean John Murphy

The meeting was called to order at 9:04 a.m.

1.  Approval of previous minutes was tabled.

2.  Dean Murphy spoke with the department about duties and expectations of a department chair in preparation for the upcoming election to fill the vacancy created by Larchez’s retirement.

3. Announcements

a) The department needs to select a representative and an alternate for CAS promotion committee; selection will take place at next Wednesday’s meeting.

b) Dean Murphy and Donna Weber will meet with us on Friday September 28 regarding hiring.

c) We will meet next Wednesday at 9:05. 

4. The opportunity to request a graduate assistant was discussed. Interested members of the department will come up with a proposal to present.

5.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:59 a.m.
