UW-Stout Physics Department meeting minutes

Members present: Mark Larchez (chair), Paul Henkiel, Jo Hopp, Laura McCullough, Jim Pejsa, John Rompala, Alan Scott

Meeting was called to order at 9:07 a.m.

1. Approval of minutes was tabled.

2. Selection of a representative and an alternate for CAS promotion committee, and an alternate chair for the departmental committee. Motion to elect Jo Hopp for the college-level committee, Laura McCullough as alternate for the college-level committee, and Laura McCullough as the alternate chair of the department-level committee. (Scott/) Motion passed.

3. Hiring: The job description, and advertisement were discussed.
Questions for Donna Weber: What happens to applications that arrive after the start of review date? What about a start of review date before the month in which a print ad appears? Can we not include details in the ad about applying but send people to the website for application details? Title of Assistant Professor in Geology/Physics?

4. Possibility of graduate assistant for the department. Give comments to Jo or Laura by the end of 9/26/07 so they can formalize the proposal by the due date on Friday 9/28/07.
