UW-Stout Physics Department Meeting Minutes

Members present: Mark Larchez (chair), Paul Henkiel, Jo Hopp, Laura McCullough, Jim Pejsa, John Rompala, Alan Scott, Ellen Carlson
 

Meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m.

 

1. Announcements

Department chair election is underway. Ballots need to be submitted to Eileen Zito by 4:30 pm, Tuesday, October 9, 2007.

2. Minutes

• Minutes for 9/7/07 meeting approved (Scott / McCullough).

• Minutes for 9/14/07 meeting approved (McCullough / Rompala).

• Minutes for 9/21/07 meeting approved (Rompala / McCullough).

• Minutes for 9/26/07 meeting approved (Scott / McCullough).

• Approval of Minutes for 9/28/07 tabled.

 

3. Faculty Senate report (Rompala)

• Advisory vote on realignment is scheduled for next meeting, 10/16/07.

• Dual enrollment for health insurance will be done electronically this year.

• Workload statement revision was approved.

• Collegial coverage for staff on sabbatical leave with respect to sick leave will be discussed at state level.

• Department's research statement will be reviewed.

 

4. Curriculum (Hopp)

PHYS-489 course proposal by Jo Hopp was approved (Pejsa / McCullough).

5. Hiring

• Alan and Laura will try to get ads out by the end of the week.

• Recruitment tools will be reviewed at Friday, 10/05/07 meeting.
