UW-Stout Physics Department Meeting Minutes

Members present: Mark Larchez (chair), Paul Henkiel, Jo Hopp, Laura McCullough, Jim Pejsa, John Rompala, Alan Scott, Ellen Carlson

Prior to the meeting A. Scott took a department group photo.

Meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m.

1. Announcements

M. Larchez informed members of the spring semester schedule. It will include one section each of University Physics I and II, six sections of College Physics I, and five sections of College Physics II. There will be two sections of Statics and Strength of Materials and one section of Geology and Soil Mechanics. A second section of G and SM might be offered.

Approval has been given for an emergency hire for the spring semester.

L. McCullough informed members that the request to Access to Learning to fund the purchase of an additional set of classroom ‘clicker’ was denied. The request will be reinitiated in the next funding period.

E. Carlson left the meeting at this juncture.

2. Minutes

Motion (A. Scott/L. McCullough): to approve the 10/19/07 minutes after the inclusion of minor changes. Motion passed in a voice vote.

3. Hiring Tools

L. McCullough and A. Scott distributed updated drafts of Tool 5 for each position.

Members focused on the Geology/Physics version. They reviewed and revised sections I through IIII. L. McCullough and A. Scott will draft further revisions for the next meeting.

Meeting adjourned 10:05 a.m.
