UW-Stout Physics Department Meeting Minutes

Members present: Mark Larchez (chair), Paul Henkiel, Jo Hopp, Laura McCullough, Jim Pejsa, John Rompala, Alan Scott

This will be a special expedited meeting to work on particular items.

Meeting was called to order at 7:30a.m.

Announcements

1. Mark discussed the power outage over the weekend. Jo indicated that she needs to be notified if the power goes off for an hour or more. Police will be calling a person on a list, then this person will call other people needing to be notified.

2. Mark used chemistry’s hot plates and noted that the department’s hot plate is malfunctioning. It was announced that Bob Foley is planning to fill the emergency hire position for the Spring 2008 semester. A new section of PHYS-281 will be implemented and an instructor for this new section has been determined. Mark discussed PHYS-257 and PHYS-242. An additional section of PHYS-242 is needed.

New Business

Building renovation and construction proceeded to be discussed as a continuation from the meeting on November 20, 2007.

1. Laura expressed concerns regarding the arrangement of offices and the level of input we have in this matter.

2. Jo talked about the research space. The sketches of the cabinetry were numbered and discussed.
