Physics Department Meeting

Members present: Mark Larchez (chair), Ellen Carlson, Paul Henkiel, Laura McCullough, Jim Pejsa, Alan Scott, John Rompala

M. Larchez called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

1. Announcements

Open lab will close on Tuesday, 4:00 pm.

2. Minutes

Minutes of the 12/03/04 department meeting were approved after correction.

3. Hiring

· Laura will meet with the Dean on Wednesday for approval of the position description.

· Reviewed position description and made minor additions/changes and then approved.

· Discussed Tool 3, minor changes made. Motion to approve Tool 3 passed.

· Tool 5.

o Candidates will be asked to give a 55 min. lecture to one of our first year physics classes. Topic will be dictated by the instructor’s normal schedule of topics for the class.

o Candidates will also be asked to present a 55 min. talk to the department members on a research topic of their choice.

· We’ll plan on meeting Monday p.m. to finish work on Tools.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
