library4.jpg (162687 bytes)

The proposed building project is on the North to Northeast side of the existing building.  All underground utilities must be located and marked prior to soil exploration.

library5.jpg (209355 bytes)

Augering down to the appropriate depth.

library6.jpg (218098 bytes)

library7.jpg (196107 bytes)

Extracting an undisturbed soil sample from the split-spoon sampler.

library8.jpg (219480 bytes)

Marking the pipe to record the N-value for the SPT.  This gives an indication for the soil type as a function of depth.

library10.jpg (158320 bytes)

Opening up the sampling tube.  The pictures shows soil (or rock) obtained from below the ground near the library.

library11.jpg (186390 bytes)

Close-up of the soil contained in the sampler.
