Does your research involve human subjects?
If you are collecting information about a living individual, you have human subjects in your study. You don't need to be interacting directly with someone to be collecting data from or about them.
Examples of human subjects projects: web-based survey on study habits; ergonomic evaluations of workers in a factory; interviewing local business leaders; on-the-job injury rates.
Examples of projects not involving human subjects: literature reviews; production data from a factory; food service supply data.
